For horizontal  compositions, especially in Beloved Tropes, these dimensions result in expansive views that reference 19th-century panorama paintings... Meant to fill the viewer's entire field of vision, such earlier paintings were intended to invoke a sense of immersion.

 

In Infusion, expansiveness functions slightly differently. In her new Blast series, Gerbarg is thinking through implications of satellite-carrying rockets taking off into space.
